Tangos, The Exile of Gardel, Pino Solanas
In Paris, a troupe of artistically inclined Argentine exiles long for their homeland and its traditions. Seeking to create a salve for their shared sense of isolation, they craft a song-and-dance revue in honor of the late Carlos Gardel, an iconic tango dancer. These lively music numbers mix ballet and the tango, and they spread from the theater to backstage and into the streets of Paris, as these melancholy expatriates gallivant around their adopted home.
Initial release: November 6, 1985 (France)
Director: Fernando Solanas
Music composed by: Fernando Solanas, Astor Piazzolla, José Luis Castiñeira de Dios
