William Wegman – selected works
William Wegman started creating “short, performance oriented videotapes” in the 1970s that starred his dog, included “understated humor, minimalist performance, and sight gags,” and were parodies of “high art.” These newly re-mastered compilations by William Wegman show a range of his early video works, including performances to camera, word play, technical experiments with the video signal, and skits worthy of a stand-up comedian. And throughout it all – his faithful hound, May Ray. At the end of the program, there is a surprise.
