The works and the curatorial text accompanying them suggest additional, sometimes surprising, possibilities of reading the articles. We hope that the possible points of contact between critical art and public interest lawyering will increase the awareness of them among both communities – artists and jurists.

To compile a series of images in the format of a site’specific exhibition for an issues of a socially oriented law journal dealing with various topics un the field: that was the challenge we set ourselves when we first met with Ofer Sitbon, the journal’s editor. Ofer had been looking for an image from our work, but in keeping with our tendency to consider the context of the artwork on display as an inseparable part of it, we made him a counteroffer: to curate the entire volume. We have read the articles and attempted tocomment on them, to add a further layer of visual interpretation. The images that were chosen are in part documentations of installations, photographs or images taken from video works that have their own independent narratives. The connection between art and the academic articles in the present volume is an invitation to read the journal differently, to reflect on it. The relation between the discussion of legal topics and the “image” is a dialogue between two different practices of inerpretation, two modes of expression. Its an offer to journey briefly along two parallel paths, which occasionally intersect.
