During July-September 2011 the Education-Lab, Hagit Keysar together with Shai Efrati and Jeffrey Warren, have conducted workshops of Participatory GIS and Do-It-Yourself aerial photography in Jerusalem, in Silwan, East Jerusalem and Ein Karem, West Jerusalem. It was an amazing opportunity for learning from Jeffrey Warren of The Public Laboratory civic science practices and cutting edge mapmaking techniques. Jeffrey was the Education-Lab guest in residence for 2 weeks during July, in Mamuta Art and Media centre, Ein Karem. We are especially interested in the application of civic-science practices within the urban and civil crisis in Jerusalem, and we worked with 2 groups of children in Silwan and Ein Karem – two separated and diverse areas and communities in the city.
