A Performance by Tom Klein at Resounding Voice

Cellist Tom Klein, performs a contemporary musical response to Brigitta Schiffer’s string quartet from 1933, at “Resounding Voice”, a new exhibition at the Mamuta Art and Research Center. The quartet’s second movement draws inspiration from a phonograph recording of a funeral song performed by a boys’ choir, which Schiffer recorded in an oasis in Egypt that same year. The original manuscript of the composition is preserved in the archives of the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem.
