ostrovsky_oydivision2

Ostrovsky is an internationally celebrated artist and curator.  She is known  for her advocacy of experimental film and avant-garde programming,  often featured  at venues in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. Her global perspective has several dimensions. Vivian was born in New York  but grew up in  Rio and pursued higher education in Paris. Her films have been seen around the world, not only in film festivals but also at major museums, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
Of late, she has expanded her practice beyond her signature style in documentaries and collage shorts to include moving-image creations developed for cell phones and for installation artworks.  The artist retains a devotion to working with celluloid and continues to be inspired by vintage imagery such as the canon of classic films associated with  Henri Langois’s reign at the Cinematheque de Paris, the spirit of black and white American slapstick personified by Buster Keaton, and the art, film, advertising and architecture of the 1940s through 70s in Brasil .
Vivian, who is also uniquely well-versed in and supportive of  emerging, time-based and contemporary art in Israel, will present and discuss a selection of her most recent works.
The program will conclude with Q & A, and live music.     Please join us!
